Who does not pay the VA funding fee, and how to confirm it
Who does not pay the VA funding fee
Short answer
Most VA home loans, including IRRRLs and cash-out refinances, carry a one-time funding fee, but VA exempts some borrowers. The main groups are veterans who receive, or are entitled to receive, VA disability compensation; active duty service members who have received the Purple Heart; and surviving spouses who receive Dependency and Indemnity Compensation. Your Certificate of Eligibility shows your exemption status.
